ABOUT FITNESS TRAINING

Most people today hear the word “fitness” and think of some type of cardiovascular exercise. While cardiovascular exercise should always be part of your workout routine there are two other crucial elements to exercise. They are “nutrition” and “weight resistance” Without all three parts you may not be getting the workout you want or need.

 As we age our muscle tissue shrinks or atrophies. As this happens our metabolism slows down and our bodies can no longer burn off the calories we consume. These extra calories are then turned into fat and stored in our bodies. This in addition to a sedentary lifestyle is what causes obesity in many people.

 The heart, like other muscles in the body, will also atrophy.

 This decreases our cardiovascular output, which causes the heart to be less efficient in pumping blood to our muscles and other parts of our body. In addition the heart becomes weaker and needs to work much harder to maintain proper function.
